- On 15 August 2019, our visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, announced Jal Jeevan Mission – ‘Har Ghar Jal’.

Jal Jeevan Mission, is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.
The programme will also implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through grey water management, water conservation, rain water harvesting.
The Jal Jeevan Mission will be based on a community approach to water and will include extensive Information, Education and communication as a key component of the mission.

Components of Jal Jeevan Mission
- Tap Water Supply : Tap water connection to 19.25 Crores rural households of the country by 2024.
- Bottom up Planning : Community engagement in planning, implementation and operation and maintenance.
- Women empowerment : Involvement of women in planning, decision-making, implementation, monitoring, and operation and maintenance.
- Focus on future generation : Provision of tap water supply to schools, tribal hostels and anganwadi, day-care centres.
- Skill development & employment generation : Local people are skilled for building and maintaining water supply structures.
- Grey-water Management : Reuse and recycle waste water for source sustenance.
- Source Sustainability : Promote ground water recharge & water conservation
- Water Quality :Ensure safe drinking water to reduce water-brone ailments.
