- The constitution (128th Amendment ) Bill, or the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, and it’s six clauses were passed with all 214 members present in Upper House voting in favour of them.
- The Supreme Court on Friday is set to pronounce orders on pleas to lift curbs on firecrackers in Delhi. A Bench of Justices A. S. Boparina and M. M. Sundresh will pass the order.
- Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday unveiled a gigantic statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya on the Mandhata hillock at Omkareshwar in Khandwa district. Called the Ekatmata Ki Murti (statue of Oneness), the 108-feet-tall statue portrays the 8th century Indian philosopher and theologian, who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta.
- The Delhi High Court has upheld an order suspending two Delhi government circulars that mandated furnishing of Aadhaar for entry-level admissions to private schools under the economically weaker section (EWS) disadvantaged group (DG), and children with special needs (CWSN) categories.
A Bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula on sept 13 dismissed the government’s appeal against the interim order of a single – judge Bench, which termed the circulars “prima facie in conflict with constitutional provisions”.

- The new Pamban railway sea bridge being built to connect Mandapam town on the mainland with Rameswaram on the Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu. The bridge is under construction since 2019.
- Wipro Ltd. has appointed Aparna C.Iyer as Chief Financial Officer, with immediate effect. Ms Iyer succeeds Jatin Dalal.

Saroja Vaidyanathan, Bharatanatyam dancer, passes away.
The Classical dancer was given the Padma Shri in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan in 2013. Ms. Saroja Vaidyanathan was known for her extensive contribution to Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music in the form of 10 full length ballets and nearly 2,000 choreographies.
