  • ‘Green War Room’ to start functioning from October 3.

About : Green War Room

Launched in 2020, the ‘Green War Room’ has state-of-the-art air quality monitoring equipment and a team of experts, including scientists and data analysts. It will keep an eye on all sources contributing to the Delhi’s air pollution and help the city administration implement its action plan.

The Delhi government had on September 29 launched a 15-point action plan to mitigate air pollution during the winter season.


  • Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday directed the formation of a project management unit for better coordination among different agencies carrying out the multi-model integration of metro stations in the city.

Multi-modal integration (MMI) project to come up at three metro stations in the city.

  • Tis Hazari
  • Rithala
  • Seelampur. (These three metro stations to be developed into prime transport hubs.)

Metro stations with MMI to provide last- mile connectivity and have:

  • Grade-separated street crossing
  • Public toilets
  • Dedicated zones for hawkers
  • Street maps.

  • Kerala has registered 12% year-on-year growth in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in September. According to Union finance ministry, the GST revenue collection of the State in September this year at ₹2,505 crore. It was ₹ 2,246 crore in September 2022.

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) has placed two contracts with Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (BDL) for the indigenous Astra Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air Missile and the first batch is expected to be introduced by the end of the year.

  • Following a detailed scientific review by the WHO’s independent advisory body, the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE), and the Malaria Policy Advisory Group (MPAG), the R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine has been recommended for use, noted a release issued by the Serum Institute of India.

The Matrix-M component is a proprietary saponin-based adjuvant from Novavax, which is licensed to the Serum Institute for use in endemic countries, while Novavax retains commercial rights in non-endemic countries.

The vaccine was developed by the Jenner Institute at Oxford University and the Serum Institute of India with support from the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), the Wellcome Trust, and the European Investment Bank (EIB).


BUSINESS

  • Tea production across the country declined by about 4% to 177.95 million Kilogram in August this year as compared with the output in the year-earlier month.

According to Tea Board data, production in North India, primarily comprising the States of Assam and West Bengal, fell to 158.04 million Kg in the month under review from 170.97 million Kg. 2022.
