INDIA

  • On Saturday, the RBI issued fresh instructions to banks not to receive any ₹ 2,000 currency notes from October 8 onwards. Members of the public have been advised to deposit or exchange their notes without any further delay. However, the central bank reiterated that ₹ 2,000 banknotes will continue to be legal tender.

  • Delhi-NCR recorded a daily average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 167 from January 1 to September 30, its second best during the corresponding period in the past six years.

According to The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas, the Average daily air quality index stood at 184 in 2022, 180 in 2021, 188 in 2019, 193 in 2018, respectively.


  • The Indian Army has started an initiative, named Project Udbhav, to rediscover the “profound Indic heritage of statecraft and strategic thoughts” derived from ancient Indian texts of “statecraft, Warcraft, diplomacy and grand strategy” in collaboration with the United Service Institution of India (USI), a defence think-tank.

  • The September edition of Oryx, The International Journal of Conservation said Chennai is the highest-ranked node in the tortoise and hard-shell turtle trafficking network, fuelling the global pet trade.

Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, Agra and North 24 Parganas and Howrah in West Bengal also rank high, the study published in September edition of Oryx.

  • Granules India has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (U.S. FDA) approval for its abbreviated new drug application for Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets USP, 50 mg/25 mg, 100 mg/12.5 mg, 100 mg/12.5 mg, 100 mg/25 mg. The approved product is indicated for treatment of hypertension and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension.
